ABOUT PAW TO PAW

Hi, I'm Sophie.

I'm the founder of Paw to Paw Pet Care – and a lifelong animal lover with a passion for both pets and wildlife.

Before launching my pet care business in 2024, I worked various jobs over the years, even three jobs at once to fund my dream: travelling the world to volunteer with animals. That journey took me to six countries, where I had the incredible opportunity to care for lions, jaguars, pandas, elephants, baboons, kangaroos, rhinos and so many more. I've also trekked through the forests of Uganda and Rwanda to see wild gorillas, travelled to Romania to observe wild bears in their natural habitat, and most recently, returned from the icy wilderness of Antarctica after experiencing whales and penguins.

I was also a volunteer at Dartmoor Zoo, & worked at Devon Dogs, caring for Crufts champions.

These experiences have deepened my understanding of animal behaviour, care, and the importance of building trust and respect with every creature I meet — lessons I bring into every walk, sit, and interaction with the pets I look after.

When you choose Paw to Paw, you're not just hiring a dog walker or sitter – you're gaining a trusted partner in your pet's happiness and a business that truly cares about animals, people, and the planet.

AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 ANIMALS

Six countries. Hundreds of animals.

MEET THE DOGS

Rocket & Laika

Rocket

Rocket is my own miniature dachshund & the inspiration behind Paw to Paw. He joins many of our walks and reminds me everyday how important enrichment, structure & adventure are for happy, balanced dogs. He's also completed his Level 1 Rural Mini League trail in Mantrailing & Scent Work — proof that the little ones can do big things too.

Aliases: Rocky · Rockily · Rocky Road · Sausage

If you have a nervous dog and want to start socialising them, Rocky is great for these types of dogs — patient, calm, gives them plenty of space.

Laika

Laika is our newest puppy — named in honour of Laika the Soviet space dog, the first dog to leave Earth back in 1957. The cosmic name keeps the Rocket theme alive across the pack. Inquisitive, mischievous and a little cheeky — she's slowly joining the walks as she grows.

WHY PAW TO PAW

Pet care, built around three things.

A heart for the pets, roots in the community, and care for the wild places we walk.

  • Two of Sophie's regulars — a ginger spitz and a black-and-white collie cross — perched together on a wooden gate after a Dartmoor walk.

    MISSION

Treat every pet as my own.

At Paw to Paw Pet Care, my mission is simple: to treat every pet as if they were my own. I'm committed to providing reliable, loving, and tailored care that enriches your pet's day and gives you peace of mind. Whether it's a walk in the woods, a calm companion at home, or a special outing, I believe in creating positive, fear-free experiences that support both physical and emotional wellbeing.

  • A pack group on a Dartmoor forest path — black Labrador, Vizsla and small terrier all looking up to camera mid-walk.

    COMMUNITY

    Rooted in the neighbourhood.

Paw to Paw is more than a pet care service — it's part of a growing, caring community. I believe in supporting local, building strong relationships with pet owners, and contributing positively to the neighbourhoods we serve. Where we can, we will always shop small and local, give back to local animal charities and join community events.

  • Sophie wading a stream with the pack — husky, dachshund, Italian greyhound, cockapoo and terrier exploring the riverbank shade.

    ECO-CONSCIOUS

    Leaving only paw prints.

We are passionate about running the business as sustainably as possible, choosing eco-friendly products, minimising waste, and doing what I can to protect the natural spaces our pets love to explore. From biodegradable poo bags to refillable hand wash, we're helping our planet, and leaving only paw prints behind.

What Clients Say

Loved by local pet parents.

Real words from real owners — straight from Facebook recommendations. 100% positive across 20+ reviews.

  • Great dog walker! I've been using Sophie for a few weeks now and she's been great. From the initial meet and greet she engaged with my dog, got to know him and they had a bond straight away. She always sends a quick update after each day, usually with a cute photo, which I really appreciate when I'm at work. It's such a relief knowing my dog is getting good exercise and attention while I'm busy.

    Hannah

  • I'm so pleased to have found Sophie! She's incredibly trustworthy, and my dogs absolutely love their walks with her. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog walker!

    Amber

  • Highly recommend Sophie, she is friendly, reliable and flexible, nothing is too much trouble. My 2 boys have been walking with Sophie for a few weeks, and they seem very content and settled.

    Clare

  • Featured review

Sophie stepped up when I needed emergency dog care for 3 weeks. She welcomed my dog into her home and loved and cared for her in my absence. My pet came home happy and even slimmer! It was so nice to know my dog was in good hands. I would not hesitate to recommend Sophie.

    Gail
